Penang owns the repution of the Pearl of the Oriental and is one of the picturesque and romantic oriental cities. It is the second largest city in Malaysia and the Penang State is the only state in Malaysia where most of the inhabitants are Chinese.Penang got its name for the betel palm trees all over the island in those years. In 1786 it was developed into the earliest commercial center in the far east by the British colonial government.Penang now has been a hustle and bustle metropolis to reflect the unique feelings of the east and the west and it has been listed in the World Cultural Heritage together with Malacca.

There are teetering shops and spectacular colonial buildings everywhere in Penang, perfectly combining the classic and modern style.

Buses in Penang are quite old and the fare doesn't exceed one Ringgit generally. There is no specific regulation for parking just as the drivers like.
